If you're going to take a probiotic anyway
Same daily habit. Same barrier and microbiome support. Strains that have also been shown to bind microplastics in the gut. Win-win.
Millions of people already take a daily probiotic, and for good reason. Randomized trials and consensus statements from the international probiotics research community have spent two decades documenting what a well-chosen strain does at the gut wall: it supports the barrier (the tight junctions between intestinal cells, the mucin layer over them, the inflammatory tone underneath), it cohabitates with the microbes already living in you, and it does it quietly, over time [1-3].
That is a habit worth having on its own. It is the reason a daily probiotic sits on so many kitchen counters next to the coffee.
Winnow is that probiotic.
The base strains in the blend were chosen first for the fundamentals — barrier support, microbial compatibility, survival through the acid stretch of the stomach. Every strain in the product has to earn its place on the criteria a good daily probiotic has always been asked to prove. That is the benefit you are actually building week over week, month over month, on a timescale a supplement can honestly claim.
Then, on top of that foundation, the same strains do something else.
The bonus feature
The strains in Winnow were also selected because they have been shown in laboratory testing to bind micro- and nanoplastic particles. That evidence sits in preclinical research, but the signal is unusually consistent for a young field, and it is growing fast.
If you were going to take a good probiotic every morning anyway, the marginal cost of choosing one whose strains have also been documented to bind plasticis zero. Same capsule. Same daily habit. Same barrier and microbiome support you were after in the first place. The plastic-binding is a bonus feature of a strain that first has to be a good daily citizen of the gut.
We chose the probiotic-first route on purpose. A binder-only pill is a single-purpose tool, and single-purpose tools tend to get skipped after a week. A probiotic is a habit people already have, or already want to have, for reasons that predate the microplastics conversation entirely. Building the binding onto a habit that already earns its keep is a much better shape of product than asking anyone to add a new daily pill for a single ambient concern.
